Not to Miss

Comments Off on Not to Miss

The city’s magnificent gardens are a great place to start your tour around Funchal. Not to be missed are the Madeira Botanical Garden, located in the city amphitheatre and holding 3 000 dierent plant species; the Orchid Garden, created and designed as a small sized jungle; and the Palheiro Gardens, an oasis of colours and scents. To get better acquainted with the history and culture of the archipelago, we recommend a visit to the Madeira Story Centre. And to learn more about the flora and fauna, it should be worth paying a visit to the Natural History Museum of Funchal; now, if you want to know more about the history of Madeira’s wine, visiting the Blandy’s Wine Lodge will prove to be an excellent way to improve both your knowledge and experience. If you go on the museum tour, you should visit the Contemporary Art Museum, located at Forte São Tiago, the Funchal Sacred Art Museum, the Vicente’s Museum, the oldest photographic studio in Portugal, and we also recommend you to visit the Universe of Memories of João Carlos Abreu.
